Operation Iraqi Freedom

My Time

Friday, February 06, 2004

Hey everyone. Nothing much new to report. I know it's been a while but that's because I’ve been doing nothing but recovering. But it's going great and this weekend I get to see my dad and my girl and all my friends so I’m psyched about that. The other guys have had to go through a lot of training. They went through some collective training which required them to set up checkpoints and search vehicles and such. Stuff that is getting people hurt overseas is basically what we're training on to make sure we get it down to keep us safe. Others have been going to some individual classes. A couple of guys are going to a HAZMAT class, which are hazardous materials. It’s a pretty hard level class that deals w/ the transporting and storage of hamates. Fun fun. Some others are doing field sanitation. You may think that's a given but a lot of people like to see how long they can go w/o taking baths so we have supervisors and rosters to make sure everyone gets their turn. And another went to an Arab language class. That’s the one I wanted to do, but someone else got it. But it was only a 4-hour class so I’m wondering how much they could have possibly learned. Anyway, I’m in savannah right now on pass enjoying myself. So I hope all is well. God bless and thank you for your support and prayers for me and the rest of the troops. Peace.

Sup everyone. Nothing new. Got back from our pass, it was great to see the family. Now I’m laid up in the bed bored to death while I heal. Everyone else is doing collective training on battle drill tasks. It’s a 3 day event that shows you how to set up check points, search vehicles, how to react to different scenarios like finding a weapon in a vehicle, react to sniper fire, react to indirect fire, etc. so it's all fun stuff. Yea it kind of sucks while you are doing it, but I’m sure that they are learning some good stuff. Other people in my platoon are going to the HAZMAT class that I was supposed to be in. I do have to say that I don't miss that at all. It’s like real school. They have a huge book, homework, all day class, and if they miss one day or fail one test then they are out. So good riddance to that class. But for now, that's all that's going on. Love you guys, and thanks for your support. Love you all. Peace
