Operation Iraqi Freedom

My Time

Thursday, June 10, 2004

Hey guys. Another day in the bank and one more closer to me getting to come home. Not that I don't just love Iraq (note sarcasm). Things here were pretty standard. Nada new. We didn't get any mail in today but we still had to work pretty hard because we just moved to a new building. But now it's over and I really am at a loss for words because absolutely nothing new has happened recently. Sorry for the bordem and lack of news. But we get up, eat, sweat for the rest of the day, come home, go to sleep, repeat. And it can stay that way as far as I'm concerned until it's time for me to leave. OK, well that's it. Hope you all are doing well. Thank you so much for your support. I love you all and God bless.

Hey everyone. Absolutely nothing new happened today. But I had a chance to write so I took it just to let you all know that I am fine and things are going good. They are thinking about changing the routes of the mail so now we may be getting some at night and some at day too. So while some people get to work either 3rd or 1st shift, it looks like we get to work them all depending on when the mail gets here. That's going to stink a lot but what can you do really? Nothing. Well, that's it, things are good and I hope you all are having fun. Live it to the fullest, you only get one. Love you all, thanks for your support and prayers. God bless.

Oh what a day. But we won't start there. Sorry that I haven't written in a while, it's partly lack of motivation, and partly that our truck was on a convoy so I didn't have a ride. Well, I'm sure that you all heard about the car bomb that happened on Sunday. If you didn't, let me fill you in. We have been training the Iraqi army for a while now, and we have them guarding part of our fence and one of our gates. Well, Sunday a suicide bomber (I think) drove a car bomb into that gate. It killed 4 or so Iraqi soldiers and injured 2 or so of ours. No American soldiers were killed, but there were lives lost so it's never a good thing. Right after that they shot a mortar, but I don't think that hit anyone. So all of this happened really early in the morning so we all got to wake up to a thunderous "boom." We call them "Iraqi Alarm Clocks." Other than that there hasn't been any attacks that I know of. The mail was coming on a regular basis, but after that they shut down the gates so we didn't get mail until 7:30 pm tonight. We got everything done in about 2 hours because all of the other people that usually don't work in distro came down to help, but it still was very uncool working that late. But we got it done and now we get to rest until tomorrow when we're expecting another 4 connexes of mail. That's about it I suppose. I got some really good pictures of the tents that got hit in the mortar attacks that happened a week ago. Good holy tents and chairs. I'll send the pictures whenever I get enough to be significant. Well, that's it. I hope all is well and I thank you for all of your prayers and support. Oh also, I got a package today from the Financial Aid Center at ASU and I wanted to thank you guys so much for your support. You all are awesome. Thank you so much. Ok well, goodnight all, God bless and I'll talk to you all later.
